How to ensure your Water Hygiene Policy is compliant

As a specialist property compliance consultant, Pennington Choices are responsible for regularly reviewing and often redeveloping compliance policies for social housing providers.  Our services include both improving and developing Gas, Electric, Asbestos, Fire and Water Hygiene policies.

Our market position is unique because we employ an array of technical experts from a gas, electric, asbestos, fire and water hygiene backgrounds, as well as housing practitioners who have managed property compliance at an operational and executive level. A service we offer is a Compliance Health Check which we undertake nationally for a diverse range of social housing providers. This Health Check identifies any compliance gaps and risks, as well as including a policy review. Therefore, we are well placed to ensure social housing providers achieve their policy compliance goals.

What social housing providers need to factor into their Water Hygiene Policy

Below are some of the inclusions you need to be incorporating into your Water Hygiene Policy:

  • L8 – Legionnaires disease: The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems
  • Risk assessments of water systems – pumps, heat exchangers, showers, etc.
  • Prevent or control any risks
  • Keep and maintain the correct records for at least 5 years
