Pennington Choices is proud to be supporting Flintshire County Council in a significant fire safety and internal refurbishment project for three landmark high-rise buildings in Flint, North Wales. This initiative is fully funded by Welsh Government Capital Fire Safety Grant, demonstrating the commitment to enhancing fire safety standards and improving living conditions for residents across Wales.
Flintshire County Council (Flintshire), the largest council in North Wales, appointed Pennington Choices in May 2024 to oversee the fire safety and act as the Employer’s Agent for the internal refurbishment of three prominent tower blocks in Flint:
“Pennington Choices has provided professional support during the planning and pre-construction stage of our high-rise fire safety and refurbishment project. Their expertise and commitment have been instrumental in laying the foundations for this Welsh Government-funded initiative, which will significantly enhance fire safety across our residential high-rise buildings."
- Jonathan Jones, Building Safety Manager, Flintshire County Council
These high-rise developments, built in the late 1960s as part of a major local authority housing programme, sit at the heart of Flint's main shopping area. Originally constructed to replace sub-standard terraced housing, the buildings have provided much-needed accommodation for decades.
As part of a wider £100 million regeneration programme by Flintshire County Council, the buildings have already benefited from structural upgrades, including concrete repairs, window replacements, and external insulation to improve their energy efficiency. Now, our role at Pennington Choices focuses on delivering vital fire safety improvements and internal refurbishments to bring the buildings up to modern standards and ensure compliance with recent legislation.
Delivering specialist Employer’s Agent services, our role is to ensure the successful completion of this
