Weaver Vale Housing trust is a Sunday Times Top 100 company to work for, having retained this listing for an 8th consecutive year. In 2017, WVHT reached number 14 in the listing and also achieved the accolade of a 2 star ‘Best Company’ to work for.

The Challenge

Following a Pennington Choices Compliance Health Check and the delivery of follow up consultancy, the WVHT Board determined the need for a dedicated, qualified Compliance Manager. Our Property Compliance experts introduced Pennington Choices’ Recruitment Services to the client, which led to a briefing meeting. WVHT commissioned our recruitment experts who, in consultation with the client, created a job description that effectively represented the company, the objectives of the post, the key tasks and deliverables.

We also prepared a person specification that reflected the skills, qualifications, competences and behaviours that would ensure a good ‘fit’ to the company’s culture.

What We Did

Following the client’s approval of the job brief, we agreed a programme of planned updates and set key milestones for shortlisting, interviewing and appointment. We then established the parameters for a dedicated search. We researched the market to identify candidates, made personal approaches to those selected, engaged interested people in dialogue and arranged interviews local to the candidate, to suit the individual’s availability and optimise the response.

From these initial interviews, we presented our shortlist recommendations including CVs. We undertook reference checks and confirmed that all candidates had the appropriate eligibility documentation. Having agreed the client’s interview schedule in advance, we then provided the property Compliance experts to accompany and support the company’s interview and presentation process.

Our Achievements

The client was able to select a high calibre individual whose experience fulfilled the brief and who demonstrated the personal qualities that suited the organisation’s culture. We managed the offer and acceptance, including supporting the appointee through the resignation process.
