Residential Management Group - Property Compliance Matrix

Residential Management Group (RMG) are one of the largest property management companies in the country, with a portfolio spanning over 100,000 homes across the UK.  

Project Overview

Pennington Choices were commissioned by RMG to develop a comprehensive Property Compliance Matrix to ensure all domestic properties they manage are subject to the correct compliance checks across England, Wales, and Scotland. 

Our Approach 

We produced a detailed Microsoft Excel compliance matrix covering all key areas including gas and heating safety, electrical safety, fire safety, building safety, asbestos management, water hygiene, lift safety, and a range of supporting building checks. Our approach included:

• A review of RMG's managed portfolio to understand their obligations across all three jurisdictions.
• An information gathering session to ensure all relevant requirements were captured.
• Mapping all applicable legislation, approved codes of practice, British Standards, guidance, and sector best practice against each compliance area.
• Clearly distinguishing between legal obligations and best practice recommendations, with inspection frequencies specified throughout.
• A feedback session to discuss the draft matrix before issuing a final version.

Our Achievements

 We created a comprehensive, easy-to-use compliance matrix that gives RMG a clear and reliable reference point for managing property compliance obligations across their entire domestic portfolio. The matrix provides a consistent framework across England, Wales, and Scotland, supporting RMG in ensuring properties are subject to the correct checks at the right frequency. We are proud to have supported RMG with this project and are keen to further develop our existing working relationship with them over the coming years.
