What is the current position on domestic electrical safety within the social housing sector?

Over the past three years, our practitioners have pioneered property compliance and best practice across the housing sector, with our consultancy projects helping to improve the safety for over 280,000 tenants. Since 2016, we have also delivered over 70 compliance health checks for clients, which look at an organisation’s compliance in a broad spectrum and help to explore specific safety or compliance concerns with practical solutions.

Although, in recent years, we have seen organisations increasingly focus their attention and resources on gas and fire safety, we have generally seen weaknesses across the sector in relation to electrical safety.

This is despite the publication of the government-backed Code of Practice for the Management of Electrotechnical Care in Social Housing, and some significant regulatory judgements, which provide the sector with clear guidance.

And we want to know the extent of electrical safety performance across the sector.

This is why Pennington Choices has partnered with Inside Housing to understand what the current position on domestic electrical safety is within the social housing sector, helping us to identify whether significant gaps are still present, so that housing leaders can be made aware and implement the necessary changes to avoid any possible issues.

Throughout the course of April, a survey will be live and we are keen to hear your thoughts on the current situation within the sector. This will take no longer than five minutes to complete and will help inform a special report that will be published within Inside Housing.

All responses from individuals or organisations are completely anonymous, unless you choose to disclose these details. And as a thank you for your time, with your permission, you will be entered into a draw to win a £500 Amazon voucher.
