Pennington Choices, the award-winning, nationwide consultancy and property surveying organisation, has continued to make strides in 2019, by playing a key role in the recent launch of the Code of Practice for the Management of Electrotechnical Care in Social Housing.

Created by the Electrical Safety Roundtable (ESR), the new document aims to give Providers and Landlords across the social housing sector clarity as to how they can best manage electrical safety within their housing stock, as well as help tenants understand why electrical inspections are important.

Pennington Choices were brought onto the project to use its sector-wide knowledge of the difficulties social housing providers face and to assist in reviewing the document prior to its release, to ensure that the recommendations were both practical and sensible.

Pennington Choices were invited to attend the launch of the new document at the Houses of Parliament, on Wednesday 23rd January, alongside key individuals from across the housing sector.

Jenny Neville, Professional Services Director at Pennington Choices, played a crucial part in the review of the document. She expressed her support in its release, recognising the importance for the Social Housing Sector, saying: “There is no doubt that this publication was well needed in the sector, to provide true clarity for Providers and Landlords that were becoming frustrated with the lack of pre-existing information.

“All of the team at Pennington Choices recognise the time and effort put in by the ESR in the production of this document, and know that its value will be felt across the sector for years to come.

“We would strongly recommend that all registered providers adopt the recommendations outlined in the publication in order to ensure that their tenants are kept safe.”
