Who?
A team made up of Mark, Gary, Steve, Ben P, Ben D, Anna, Neil, Tom and Alex took part in the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
Where?
The Yorkshire peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
Totaling 24 miles in distance and 5,200ft of ascent, the team completed the challenge in just over 12 hours!
What?
As a result of the challenge, the team managed to raise an impressive £4,336 for Warrington Disability Partnership (WDP).
Mark Seaborn, Managing Director at Pennington Choices said “I’m very proud of our team’s dedication and achievement. WDP is a fantastic charity which we have continued to support over the years. Our fundraising managed to reach over £2,000, therefore we decided to match this and bring our total raised to £4,336.”
WDP launched in 1991 and was set up with the aim of supporting people with disabilities and people living with long term health conditions. Over the past 26 years they have designed, developed and now operate 27 services that support mobility and independent living. Although based in Warrington, WDP also have two wheelchair accessible caravans in North Wales in addition to a Disabled Living Centre in Liverpool.
Dave Thompson, Chief Executive at Warrington Disability Partnership said “We are delighted that Pennington Choices decided to raise funds for WDP. Thank you to everyone who took part in the demanding Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. We are truly grateful for Pennington Choices’ ongoing support.”
WDP currently employ around 50 staff, 80% of which are people with disabilities. Additionally the money raised by Pennington Choices will go into WDP’s Legacy Fund. With this fund WDP intend to recruit and train young people with disabilities. Furthermore they endeavour to help, guide and support them in becoming the workforce of tomorrow.
